  • Welcome reception

The welcome reception will start on Sunday, June 22nd, at 18:00 in the Senate Hall of the Casimir Palace. The palace is located just behind the Old Library, the conference site. Please register first and then go to the reception.

  • Conference dinner

On Tuesday, June 24th we are going to have a conference dinner at Villa Foksal . The restaurant is located within a walking distance (15-20 min) from the conference site. The diner starts at 19:30, for the location see map in Venue and Organization. In a case of special diet requirements contact Olga Fuksinska .

  • University of Warsaw Main Campus Tour

On Wednesday, June 25th there will be an opportunity (dedicated mainly to accompanying persons) to join a guided tour around the campus of the University of Warsaw and visit the Warsaw University Museum. The tour will start at 15:00 (during the public lectures), we meet at the main University gate. Walking time approx. 60 min. To participate please sign up at the registration desk.

  • Concert

Within the 24th edition of the Warsaw Mozart Festival participants of the PASCOS meeting and their accompanying persons are invited to the symphonic concert on Wednesday, June 25th at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall (see here or here) of the Royal Castle (see map). As part of the concert you will hear the overture to the opera "Der Schauspieldirektor" KV 486, Concerto in G major for Flute, K. 313 and Symphony in B-flat major, K. 319 performed by the Warsaw Chamber Opera Sinfonietta and conducted by Ruben Silva. Tickets are available at the registration desk (there is no extra charge). You should come at least 15 minutes earlier.  Please, remember to bring your ticket with you to the concert.

  • Excursions: Guided tours around Warsaw

On Friday, June 27th (the last day of the conference) we would like to invite you for a guided walk around Warsaw. As described below, there are two possible routes to choose.  For both tours the meeting point is the entrance to Old Library building (the conference site) and the tours start at 17:00. The walks will last approximately 2,5 h. To participate please sign up at the registration desk.

 

Warsaw from Scratch

Route: Warsaw University– Royal Route – President Palace – Castle Square – Kanonia Square – Old Town Hill – Old Town Square – City Wall – Krasiński Square

On this trip we will visit the most representative places of Warsaw. We will start from the Royal Route and walk through picturesque Old Town with unique example of the complete reconstruction of the historical part of the city, listed on UNESCO heritage list. We will discover the spirit, tradition and habits of XVIII-XIX century Warsaw. We will see the Presidential Palace where the Warsaw Pact was signed, St. Anna’s Church and much more. We will walk to the Old Town Square, to New Town and Krasiński Square with Warsaw Uprising Monument.

We recommend this route especially if this is your first time in Warsaw.

 

Warsaw Highlights

Route: Warsaw University - Royal Route - Piłsudski Square - Bank Square - Chłodna Street - Próżna Street - Marszałkowska Street - Palace of Science and Culture

This trip will let you discover the contrasts of Warsaw. We would like to show you not only the most representative parts of Warsaw, but also less popular areas, connected with the history of Polish Jews and communism. We will start from the Royal Route and walk to Piłsudski Square - the largest square in Warsaw named forMarshal Józef Piłsudski. Then we will walk through the Saski Garden to Grzybowski Square and discover the mix of pre-war, communist and modern architecture on Chłodna street and Bank Square (the place of the destroyed largest Warsaw's synagogue, which was also one of the largest in the World). We will walk through the parts of the Jewish ghetto and then visit the city center to finish the tour by the Palace of Science and Culture.
